Waterman Documental Black is a good ink, but it isn’t as dark as other black inks. Water resistant, good on most paper with fine nibs. I like Noodlers Black also, but will mention Pilot Black. I should think that acrylic inks are equally bad for fountain pens. India ink contains both shellac (or gellatin) and soot (lampblack) so is definitely only for dip pen use. I think that almost all calligraphy inks that are marked as waterproof contain shellac so they won't work at all - they will clog up your pen and make it unusable. I am surprised that you are not having problems with the Higgins ink generally speaking, Higgins inks are rather thick - great for dip pens, but not for fountain pens, which is basically what your Pilot Parallel is. Whether that's possible with a Montblanc is something that company has never encouraged people outside their own service center(s) to learn.You should be able to use any of the bullet proof/waterproof inks that are made for fountain pens. Once it's all cleaned up, the nib and feed are then reassembled into the section and the pen will write just fine. The best known one is Rapid-O-Eze these are specifically made for cleaning genuine India inks out of stylographic type technical pens, and apparently have a solvent that will soften the shellac binder in India ink without damaging pen materials.įWIW, I've cleaned one pen that apparently had India ink in it before I received it it's done by removing the nib and feed from the section, scrubbing the ink off the nib (it'll be well stuck on the bottom or inner side, especially around the edges of the feed) and using shim stock or, very carefully, a utility or hobby knife point to remove the caked up ink from the feed channels (without changing their dimension, which would make the pen wetter).
